Range of Skills and ExperienceDavid heads our Company & Commercial Department. His areas of work are corporate transactions and commercial contracts.

On the corporate side he has headed up teams that have, in recent months, completed trade sales and acquisitions, management buyouts and group restructurings. Clients have included US corporations, UK companies and owner managers.

On the commercial side David specialises in negotiating, drafting and advising business clients on commercial contracts. This includes outsourcing arrangements, supply agreements, sponsorship contracts, agency and distribution agreements, joint venture arrangements, collaboration agreements and a wide range of other business contracts.

David has a particular interest and experience in advising on IT contracts, from major system acquisitions to software licenses, and has developed a particular expertise in the area of e-commerce. He has, for example, advised clients on web site design and hosting arrangements, linking agreements and content licensing and has also advised on arrangements to provide co-branded on-line gaming and the sale of goods and services on-line.

David graduated from Cambridge University with a First Class Honours degree in law. He joined Greenwoods in 2001 having previously been Head of the Commercial Department in the East of England region of Eversheds.

He enjoyed a six year term of office as a non-executive director of a major construction company; this has developed his ability to see things from the client’s point of view and enhanced his business-like approach.  The Legal 500 (2007 edition) describes David as 'exemplary' and Chambers & Partners "A Client's Guide to the Legal Profession 2007-2008" comments that David Woods is regarded by his peers as a “high-grade lawyer".
