Solicitors eat cake for Sue Ryder Care
Dressing down and eating cake - as well as delivering an excellent service for clients - was the order of the day for employees of Greenwoods Solicitors LLP in an effort to raise money towards the building of a replacement hospice for healthcare charity, Sue Ryder Care.
Greenwoods' employees were able to sample some sweet treats and prepare for Father's Day with handmade cards and homemade cakes provided by Sharon Macaulay - who is an enthusiastic supporter of Sue Ryder Care.
A total of £136.10 was raised for the charity - which has been matched by Greenwoods - and will go towards helping support those with end of life and long-term illnesses.
Rosemary Gearing, HR Executive and organiser of the event said: "Greenwoods employees always give generously whenever we hold charity events. With the addition of Sharon's exquisite homemade cakes and cards we were really able to enjoy our fundraising efforts.
"I would also like to say a big thank you to members of Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) for adding to the total amount raised through their purchases."
Natalie Riddler, Area Fundraising Manager at Sue Ryder Care – Thorpe Hall Hospice, said: “We are raising funds for a new replacement hospice so that we can continue long into the future providing care for people living with life-limiting illnesses in Cambridgeshire. “Thorpe Hall is the only hospice in Peterborough and its surrounding area caring for people living with life limiting illnesses such as Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Huntington's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, Stroke and Brain Injury. Around one third of patients are under 60. All services, to both patients and their families, are completely free of charge and the hospice receives only around 50% of funding from local health authorities.”
