Kathryn joined Greenwoods from an International Law firm where she was a partner
and head of their regulatory compliance unit.
She advises international and national companies on UK/European trading law issues,
including providing advice on food, product liability, health and safety and corporate
governance matters.
She is renowned for her innovative approach and the 2004/5 edition of the Legal
500 rates her as a leading practitioner noting that "she has over 19 years
experience ... And that she oozes enthusiasm". Further noting
that "her team is definitely on the way up".
Kathryn has a unique insight into the regulatory regime within which all companies'
trade in the UK and Europe , because of her 10 years of experience as a prosecutor
/compliance officer for various government agencies.
She is proactive in helping clients to develop self-auditing compliance policies,
risk assessment strategies and drafting brand protection protocols, etc. She frequently
reviews companies' due diligence defences to ensure that they can actively defend
any action taken by a regulator or inspector.
In addition, she defends companies and their directors facing prosecutions for incidents
including corporate manslaughter following workplace accidents. She has the
technical skills to assist site and project managers on specific issues as well
as being able to advise company directors on both their own personal and their company's
liability.
Kathryn is recognised by Chambers Directory as a leader in the field of food law,
where "observers regard her as a highly accomplished regulatory lawyer".
She regularly writes for trade and legal journals on regulatory developments and
is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences on developing issues.
She is a member of the Law Society Food Law Group, the BIICL Product Liability Forum
and the Institute of Directors.
