Day of action planned – 20 February 2017 #1DayWithoutUs

Whilst the Government is working on Brexit, a number of European migrants and their supporters are planning a 24-hour national boycott on Monday 20 February 2017.

This is planned to coincide with the UN’s World Day of Social Justice.  European migrants and their supporters are encouraged to take time out of their day to celebrate the contribution that they make.

This ‘time out’ could include closing restaurants and businesses for the day; not attending work or spending money.  Organisers hope that the day will impact on communities and workplaces across the UK.  There are local organiser groups in London, Cambridge, Leicester, Peterborough etc. preparing for this day of action.

Should your workforce include such staff then you need to plan ahead.

Next steps

Employers should monitor developments carefully and have a contingency plan in place to cope with potential staff shortages on 20 February 2017.

If you rely on a European workforce then there are steps you can take to prepare your business for the immigration implications of the UK’s exit from the EU.

Please contact us on 01733 887700 if you would like to discuss any of the above in further detail. We’d be happy to chat.
