Don’t let your ‘scores on the doors’ damage your hard-earned reputation

Celebrities opening food businesses isn’t news, but a food hygiene rating of 1 for the winner of ‘The Apprentice certainly is.

‘Ridiculously Rich’ is a diner/coffee shop operated by Alana Spencer in Cardiff Bay.  She was Alan Sugar’s winner of the BBC programme ‘The Apprentice’ in 2016.  She used his £250,000 investment to develop her luxury cake shop and Ridiculously Rich franchise.

The EHO’s in Cardiff inspected the property on 15 June and gave the site ‘one-star’ under the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.  The following issues were identified:

Hygienic food handling – improvement necessary

Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building – generally satisfactory

Management of food safety – major improvement necessary

Further details can be found here.

The premises have requested a re-inspection.

Businesses in Wales must display their rating on their entrance doors.

Don’t let your business’s hard-earned reputation disappear because of ‘scores on the doors’.  EHO’s are carrying out food safety inspections and are playing catch up post-pandemic.

Contact us now for advice – don’t risk a piteously poor food inspection.
