Employment Law Now: Newsflash: Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme extended to September 2021

The Chancellor has announced in today’s Budget that the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (“CJRS”) has been extended to 30 September 2021.

Employees who have been furloughed during this time will still receive 80% of their salary for hours not worked.  However, employers will need to pay 10% towards those hours in July 2021 and 20% towards those hours in August and September 2021.

The employer contributions are being brought in as the wider economy reopens in line with the Government’s recent COVID-19 Response Roadmap which we updated you on recently.

The remaining terms of the CJRS are understood to remain unchanged, but the finer detail of the scheme remains complex.  If you need advice on the CJRS, our team of experts can help.
