Wealth Preservation Matters: Meet Ellen Eley

It’s important our clients feel they can build excellent working relationships with our team members – and knowing a little more about them can certainly help.

In a regular feature we’ll give you an insight into the skills and experience of our team – as well as sharing a little of their hobbies and passions.

First in the spotlight is Chartered Legal Executive, Ellen Eley.

I haven’t taken the most traditional route in terms of a career in law.  I never really knew what I wanted to be when I grew up and after reading history at Chester, I applied for all manner of jobs one of which was a legal secretary.  And that was when my career in law started, I knew it was a role I would always be passionate about.

I studied whilst working full-time in a private client team which gave me both technical know-how and valuable experience.  I am now very proud to have achieved my fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.  I’m now studying again, this time for the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners’ diploma in Trusts and Estates in England and Wales.  On completion of the diploma I will join other team members as a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP).  It’s an internationally recognised standard of expertise and it is a great achievement for the team here at Greenwoods GRM to have so many TEPs.  It’s great to be a member of such a technically experienced team that is also so focused on the needs of clients.

I enjoy the variety of private client work and there are certainly no two days which are the same.  I particularly enjoy meeting with clients and whilst this has had to be adapted over recent months, the technology available to us has at least meant that face to face meetings are still possible, albeit virtually.  It is so rewarding to provide solutions to issues of concern, much of what we do here in Wealth Preservation is to provide peace of mind.

When I am not in the office most of my spare time is dedicated to my love of cycling.  Whether this is riding my road bike or keeping up to date with the racing (road and track) and the flurry of races that are now on the revised calendar.  I had hoped to return to Majorca again this Autumn with family and friends and bikes but sadly that is not meant to be.  So, instead, I have purchased an indoor trainer, taken over the shed and hope that the extra winter miles will convert into summer smiles next year!

One of my other passions is music and I am certainly missing attending gigs and festivals this year.  I have been fortunate enough to see bands all over the world but nowadays I tend to stay local and attend the majority of my gigs in Cambridge and then travel a bit further afield for the festival calendar.
