Chi Collins

Head of Property Disputes & Partner

Chi has extensive experience in all property-related matters, advising clients on their commercial and residential assets and issues.    She has particular expertise in leasehold enfranchisement and has represented clients in the Court of Appeal.

Chi advises and acts for a wide range of clients including commercial landlords and tenants, schools, private individuals and management companies.   Her approach is calm and solution-based, and she will advise not only on the dispute in hand, but a strategy in avoiding future disputes too. After all, properties are assets, and they need to be protected

Chi is well known in the field of leasehold enfranchisement, having acted for numerous landlords and tenants over the years.   She acted for the leaseholders in the leading case of Sloane Stanley Estate v Mundy in the Court of Appeal.    Her technical knowledge is key, and her experience in dealing with contentious claims often assists in avoiding potential claims for most clients.

She will guide you through this often complex area of law and will deal with all aspects of the transaction through to completion, so that she is always your point of contact.

Chi was a finalist for the Solicitor of the Year in 2019 at the Enfranchisement Awards.

Chi studied at the LSE and has practised in her field for over 20 years.   She joined Greenwoods in July 2020 from a firm in Mayfair and has continued to grow the department since her arrival.   She works closely with the Real Estate team in order to provide a fully rounded service to the firm’s clients and is always on hand if any advice is necessary, ranging from simply giving a client options, or dealing with court proceedings.

She has experience in all property-related matters including :

  • Dilapidations
  • Forfeiture and rent recovery-related issues
  • Nuisance and trespass
  • Boundary/easement disputes
  • All types of tenancies (residential and commercial)
  • The first right of refusal (Landlord and Tenant Act 1987)
  • Service Charge disputes
  • Adverse possession
  • Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 business lease renewals (opposed and unopposed)
