Deep knowledge of the law is a given.  What makes the difference for clients is the ability to use that knowledge to deliver the best outcomes for their business.  Colina’s long career has included some unusual experience, such as working as the “embedded lawyer” in teams combining skills diverse as accounting, management consulting, HR and engineering.  This experience, together with an MBA from London Business School, where fellow students from a range of industries taught her as much as the professors, has contributed to Colina’s keen focus on delivering advice that is commercial as well as compliant.

Colina originally planned to be a corporate lawyer before discovering her true calling as an employment lawyer, with a strong commercial focus.  She trained and worked in the City for 15 years, much of it in multidisciplinary, multinational teams, earning her MBA from London Business School along the way. In 2006, Colina established a boutique employment law practice and developed a diverse client base across the finance, manufacturing, education, and services sectors.  In 2026, Colina moved to Greenwoods and was delighted that all her current clients chose to become Greenwoods clients and continue their working relationship with Colina.

Colina’s practice is primarily non-contentious, and she is a firm believer in the principle that “prevention is better than cure”.  Nevertheless, some of her most satisfying career moments have been helping clients to defeat complex employment tribunal claims.  These include the successful defence of a years-long equal pay claim, which was finally resolved in the client’s favour after a trip to the European Court of Justice.  Colina has also helped clients defend and defeat complex claims involving allegations of whistleblowing and sex and disability discrimination.

In the non-contentious arena, Colina provides support and advice at every stage of the employment lifecycle, including development and maintenance, as well as practical support with day-to-day operational HR challenges, always looking for the win-win solution that meets business objectives and keeps employees engaged and motivated.
