Twenty-five Greenwoods colleagues took on our Charity Challenge 2026 this weekend, walking either 13 or 26 miles along the Norfolk Coast Path in support of our Charity of the Year, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH).
Together, the team has raised £4,500 before Gift Aid, with donations still coming in.
The challenge took colleagues from Cromer to Holkham along a route that included cliff-top paths, marshland trails and several miles of shingle beach. While the walk tested everyone’s determination, it also gave colleagues from across the firm the chance to spend time together away from their day-to-day roles.
Participants included colleagues from different offices, legal teams and business services functions, as well as a mix of long-standing employees and more recent joiners. Some had taken part in Greenwoods fundraising challenges before, while for others it was their first experience.
Over two days of walking, talking and staying together, colleagues got to know each other better, shared plenty of laughs and supported one another through the more challenging parts of the route. New friendships were formed, existing relationships strengthened and everyone played their part in helping the team reach the finish line.
As one participant reflected:
“I really enjoyed speaking with and getting to know colleagues outside of the usual office and work conversations. Dial House was an experience that will bond people for a long time and, when we were watching the football together, it felt more like watching TV with family than colleagues.”
Another said:
“Seeing people waiting for us and clapping at the end really put into perspective what we had achieved.”
The challenge was designed to be as inclusive as possible, with colleagues able to choose either the 13-mile or 26-mile route. Whether they completed half or the full distance, every participant contributed to the event’s success and to the funds raised for GOSH.
One of the most memorable moments came with around two miles left to walk, when the group was greeted by the son of Greenwoods colleague Sarah Wheatley, whose family has experienced first-hand the care and support provided by Great Ormond Street Hospital. At a time when tired legs and sore feet were beginning to take their toll, it served as a powerful reminder of why the team had taken on the challenge.
After more than nine hours on the route and over 62,000 steps, the walkers crossed the finish line together in Holkham, where they were welcomed by colleagues, family and friends before enjoying a well-earned fish-and-chips supper.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated or supported the challenge. The fundraising total is a fantastic achievement, but so too are the relationships built, the memories made, and the support shown for one another throughout the weekend.
