Disputes team growth, welcome Charlotte and Jordan

Introducing Charlotte and Jordan

Charlotte Evenden joined our Disputes team as a Senior Associate in March 2024, quickly followed by Jordan Cope as an Associate in April 2024.

Charlotte and Jordan have extensive dispute resolution experience and are outstanding additions to our Disputes team.

Meet Charlotte

Having worked in both private practice and in-house for nearly a decade, Charlotte is a proactive, solutions-driven litigator, committed to providing commercially focussed and strategic advice.  Charlotte is recommended in the 2024 Legal 500 as a Key Lawyer for Commercial Litigation.

Prior to joining Greenwoods, Charlotte spent the past 5 and a half years as an integral part of the London litigation team of top 20 law firm Pinsent Masons. At Pinsent Masons, Charlotte acted for a wealth of domestic and international clients on high-value, complex disputes, whilst also enjoying supporting her Corporate and Commercial colleagues with ad-hoc advisory work. Charlotte also completed a 10-month secondment to the Post Office during 2020 – 2021, heading up their BAU litigation department.

Charlotte Evenden

Prior to her tenure at Pinsent Masons, Charlotte trained at boutique shipping and international trade law firm Thomas Cooper (now known as Pennington Manches Cooper) during 2014 – 2016. As part of her training, she spent 6 months on international secondment in Piraeus, Greece working with a variety of international clients. Post qualification, Charlotte spent 2 years at Ince & Co, with a continued focus on shipping and international trade disputes. During this time, she gained a wealth of experience in High Court litigation, domestic and international arbitration, and mediation.

What is Charlotte looking forward to?

“I am really pleased to be joining Greenwoods’ Disputes team as its growth and success continues on an upward trajectory. The department is handling many complex and high-value disputes, and I am really looking forward to working alongside the highly motivated, and talented members of the team, to find pragmatic solutions for clients, in an energised and personable environment.

Meet Jordan

Jordan Cope qualified as a solicitor in March 2022, but has dispute resolution experience far beyond his PQE-level. Pre-qualification, Jordan provided integral paralegal support to litigation teams at multiple impressive law firms, including a boutique litigation-only law firm based in London.  He then went on to train and qualify into the Regulatory & Commercial Disputes team at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, undertaking a 5 month secondment to an international bank to advise on a contentious regulatory matter.

Jordan has experience of advising in the full lifecycle of a dispute, from providing advice geared toward dispute avoidance pre-action, through to resolving issues by way of negotiation or trial. He specialises in shareholder and corporate disputes, contract disputes, professional negligence as well as fraud, bribery and corruption and anti-money laundering.

What drew Jordan to Greenwoods?

“I was first introduced to Greenwoods by Sam Bunn who manages external recruitment on behalf of Greenwoods. I was then invited to an informal coffee with Head of Disputes, Huw Wallis. I was amazed to hear about the excellent quality and diversity of work handled by the Disputes team. I’m also joining the team at a really exciting and busy time, with a strong pipeline of cases, so I’m excited to hit the ground running.”

Huw Wallis, Head of Disputes, says:

“I am delighted to welcome Charlotte and Jordan to the team.  Charlotte is a highly experienced Senior Associate with strong technical ability, and a breadth of experience in corporate and commercial disputes, as well as procurement challenges.  She is very motivated, proactive and personable; clients will enjoy working with her. Jordan has impressive experience for his level of qualification and has previously worked on some significant cases at other firms.

I was so impressed by both of them during the interview process and knew they’d be fantastic additions to our talented and dynamic team. As Jordan said, it’s an extremely exciting and busy time for the Disputes team. We are working on exceptional cases, for exceptional clients. Having experienced associates like Charlotte and Jordan provides us with a great team structure to ensure work is being done at the right level: this is paramount for cost-efficiency. Our lawyers below Partner-level, really are the engine room of the team!

We’re always looking for talented lawyers to join our team. If you want to be part of a team that does things differently, I’d love to hear from you. You can be based in either London, Peterborough or Cambridge. And if you want to know exactly why we’re different and what that means for you, let’s have coffee. It’s a compelling story you’ll want to be part of.”

If you’d like to get in touch with Charlotte or Jordan, please email them or connect on LinkedIn.  If you are interested in joining the Disputes team, please contact Huw Wallis, or Sam Bunn in our Talent Team.
