From 1 May, we welcome Jessica Santos, Gurmaire Kaur and Roza Macit as our newest trainees.
All three are stepping into their new roles, having worked with us for some time. It’s a detail that says something about how we think about talent: when we see potential, we back it.
Jess Santos joins the trainee programme from a role as a private wealth assistant, where she worked directly with clients on complex financial and personal matters. That early exposure to client-facing work – and to what good advice actually looks like in practice – shapes the kind of lawyer she is already becoming.
Jess said: “I’m really looking forward to starting my training contract with Greenwoods. I was particularly drawn to our supportive culture and collaborative environment, which I’ve already experienced during my time in the Private Wealth team. I’ve especially enjoyed communicating directly with clients and building those relationships, and I’m excited to continue developing those skills during my training. My experience so far has been incredible, and I’m excited for the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across different practice areas while continuing to learn and develop.”
Gurmaire Kaur brings a distinctive foundation to her training contract, having spent time in our Risk & Compliance team. That experience sharpens instincts for precision, process and professional responsibility – qualities that matter across every area of legal practice.
Gurmaire said: “I was attracted to training at Greenwoods because of its high-quality work, strong supervision, and collaborative culture that genuinely values its trainees. During my time at the firm, I have been fortunate to gain experience in Corporate & Commercial and Risk & Compliance, giving me valuable insight into the business from both legal and operational perspectives. I have been trusted with a high level of autonomy early on and supported by talented teams who have helped me develop my skills significantly. As I begin my training contract, I am most looking forward to taking on new responsibilities, applying my legal studies in practice, and contributing to the firm’s continued success.”
Roza Macit transitions from paralegal to SQE Trainee within the Private Wealth team, having spent her time supporting clients through some of the most consequential decisions of their lives. The trust that work requires – and the skills it develops – don’t need to be learned from scratch.
Roza said: “I am so pleased to be starting my path to qualifying as a solicitor. I have been with the firm for almost five years, so this moment feels very special. I am most looking forward to gaining experience across different practice areas while working alongside colleagues who I know will be great mentors. I am currently in the Private Wealth team, where I have spent time since joining the firm, first as a Team Assistant and more recently as a Paralegal.”
Our trainee programmes are built around the belief that great lawyers are shaped by real experience, not just formal study. Each trainee will complete a series of supervised seats across our practice areas, combining hands-on client work with structured learning and mentoring.
The appointments of Jess, Gurmaire and Roza reflect something we’ve always believed: when we see potential, we back it – and we look forward to seeing where their careers take them.
