Amy Thomas is a Senior Associate in Greenwoods’ Commercial Disputes team, based in London.

Amy advises high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals, as well as businesses, on a broad range of complex commercial disputes, often with an international dimension. She has acted for clients across numerous jurisdictions, including the Middle East, Mexico, Georgia, Spain and Libya. Amy is experienced in managing matters from early strategic advice through to trial and enforcement, working closely with clients to achieve pragmatic and commercially focused outcomes.

Her practice includes:

  • International arbitration, including proceedings under LCIA and ICC rules
  • Breach of contract claims
  • Company, partnership and shareholder disputes
  • Directors’ disqualification proceedings
  • Professional negligence claims, including claims against solicitors and accountants
  • Injunctive relief
  • Cryptocurrency and digital asset disputes

Notable experience

  • Acting for six of eight respondents in a US$600 million cross-border ICC arbitration (London seat) arising from a Mexican contractual dispute.
  • Defending a US$40 million unfair prejudice petition on behalf of the majority shareholder of a Brazilian nickel mining company.
  • Advising the claimant, a UHNW Georgian businessman, in a High Court claim for breach of contract and unlawful means conspiracy.
  • Defending a multi-million-pound, multi-jurisdictional conspiracy and fraud claim in the High Court on behalf of estate executors.
  • Acting for the claimant in a multi-million-pound LCIA arbitration relating to a contractual dispute.
  • Acting for the claimant in a professional negligence claim against former tax advisers and accountants, involving losses of approximately £1 million.

Amy joined Greenwoods from JMW Solicitors, where she was an Associate in the firm’s Commercial Disputes team. During her time there, she acted on a wide variety of high‑value and technically complex matters for both domestic and international clients.

She graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2018 with a First-Class degree in Law and went on to complete her LPC with a Master’s degree at Liverpool John Moores University, achieving a distinction. Amy completed her training contract at a London firm, where she qualified into dispute resolution.

Outside of work, Amy enjoys socialising with friends, going to the gym, and travelling.
