Your tax brain, for the whole picture

Ingrid McCleave

Head of Tax & Partner, Private Wealth

Tax and succession planning can feel daunting, and the cost of getting it wrong – in tax, or in family fallout – can be very high. Ingrid makes such matters manageable. She explains your options in plain terms and helps you put sensible strategies in place, so your wealth passes the way you intend with as little lost to tax as possible.

Both a solicitor and a barrister, Ingrid has spent 27 years in tax and succession planning. She works with high-net-worth individuals, corporates, entrepreneurs, owner-managed businesses and their families – many of whom treat her as their family solicitor, returning to her year after year.

She advises on corporate tax, personal taxes and reliefs ,inheritance tax planning, capital gains and stamp duty land tax mitigation, trusts, estate and succession planning, probate, and domicile and offshore matters. She is also known for advising on the tax behind company restructuring and helping owners pass future growth to the next generation while keeping an eye on the inheritance tax position.

Ingrid’s career spans two of the Big Four accountancy firms, where she co-wrote an internal Tax Guide to Europe, the Bar, and senior roles as Head of Tax at City law firms. She has also run her own practice.

She is a Legal 500 2026 Recommended Lawyer, won the International Advisory Experts Award for Trusts in 2021, and is a member of the Bar of England and Wales.
