Helping leaders navigate complex workplace decisions

Jennifer Nicol

Head of Employment & Partner, Employment

Jennifer advises organisations on everything in the employment legal life cycle.

Much of her work is at board and C-suite level: executive appointments and exits, senior leadership disputes, restructures and reorganisations. She advises organisations, shareholders and investors, executives, partners and directors from onboarding through to exits and beyond. She runs workplace investigations, including the ones where the subject is sensitive or involves someone senior enough that the outcome will be discussed for months.

She also advises on cases involving workplace mental health – an area that sits across disability discrimination, reasonable adjustments, capability, sick pay and the duty of care, and where employers commonly err either by acting too quickly or by doing nothing at all.

On the contentious side, she has a solid track record of handling all types of employment litigation, from the Employment Tribunal to the High Court. Her work typically includes complex dismissals, discrimination, whistleblowing and contractual claims. Jennifer advises on the employment aspects of corporate transactions, and on people policies, organisational values and leadership training, and on helping organisations to increase leadership expertise.

Her clients are in banking, financial services, insurance, private equity, luxury retail, professional services and media. She also advises third sector organisations.

Jennifer joined Greenwoods in September 2026 to lead the employment practice, after more than twenty years in employment law, most recently as a partner and head of the London office at Thackray Williams. She studied at the University of Strathclyde.

Away from the desk, Jennifer is passionate about fitness and wellbeing. Her enthusiasm for reformer Pilates is bordering on the evangelical. Travel, cooking, creating, reading and family time are always high on her agenda.
