Head of Corporate and Commercial & Partner
I have spent over 30 years working as a corporate lawyer for many different businesses – big and small, national and international. I am passionate about what I do and doing it well. This means:
1) getting the deal done;
2) keeping it simple; and
3) putting people first!
I go out of my way to spend time with clients and understand what makes them ‘tick’ and what they want to achieve and why … to find solutions and to help them keep moving forwards and succeed. Together we can grow. Together we can succeed in achieving goals – whether that be a corporate sale or acquisition, new joint venture or resolving a potential shareholder dispute.
Outside of work, I like to relax by keeping fit on my bicycle or by indulging in my love of photography, nature and travel (oh and I do enjoy a bit of cooking too!).
Joining Greenwoods allows Stephen to put to constructive use his many years of experience.
Stephen’s career started with him working in the London post room of a large international law firm in the early 1980’s … and progressing through his legal education (as a legal executive and then solicitor) whilst ‘learning on the job’. Early experiences of company secretarial services soon developed into commercial contract drafting and then numerous joint ventures and M&A transactions. Often involving multiple jurisdictions and spanning many different business sectors.
Over the years Stephen has lived and worked in the Middle East and developed an international practice that has led to extensive travel and opportunities to learn about many different cultures and business styles … from East to West.
His practical approachable positive ‘can do’ style led to him holding senior management and ambassadorial roles in his previous firm.
Outside of work, hobbies and family Stephen is an advocate of promoting mental health issues and encouraging people to talk and realise that they are not alone.
