London International Disputes Week 2025 - Event Report

The events were buzzing with a combination of networking opportunities which saw:

• Russell Strong, Jamie McConnell and Sam Baxter attending the Opening Reception at Southwark Cathedral, meeting up with fellow dispute resolution lawyers, including many international lawyers from all over the world.
• Head of Disputes, Huw Wallis, attended the Main Conference at the QEII Building in Westminster, discussing a variety of topics from AI and enforcement trends (similar to what we recently wrote about here: Why are we seeing an increasing trend in work relating to the enforcement of awards?) to how to grow a boutique arbitration practice!
• Sam Baxter attended the YAYAH (Young And Young At Heart) Networking Dinner.

Several of the team, including Huw Wallis, Russell Strong, Euan Palmer, Jamie McConnell, Sara Roden, Lucy Baughan, Sam Baxter and Eleni Nicolaou also attended various panel sessions throughout the week discussing insightful and thought-provoking topics such as:

1. Fraud 2050: peering into the crystal ball of tomorrow’s threats.
2. Hot topics in the world of banking disputes.
3. AI in Document Review: Best Practices and Lessons Learned.
4. Celebrating 50 years of freezing injunctions – are they the golden ticket in asset recovery?
5. Making arbitration faster, stronger, better – what can London learn from the SIAC rules 2025?

For our clients, it was an opportunity for the team to understand more about emerging trends, share knowledge and learn from the experience of other countries.

It was also an excellent and welcomed opportunity to take time away from our desks to reconnect with key contacts from our referral network in person, especially those who had travelled from overseas especially for the event.
