(We’d normally do our “not thrilled about promotions” thing here, but thirteen people moving up deserves straight-up excitement and celebration.)
Siobhan Thomson is promoted to Partner in our Employment team. Siobhan’s been delivering smart, commercial employment advice to clients for over a decade – from tribunal claims to business reorganisations, TUPE transfers to workplace investigations. She’s built something particularly impressive in the education sector, where Cambridge Colleges and higher education institutions rely on her for the practical, no-nonsense guidance she’s known for. The Legal 500 says she provides “reassuringly reliable and realistic advice” – which is exactly what partnership should look like. Siobhan is based in our Cambridge office.
Mel Messenger is also promoted to Partner, taking on the role of Head of Compliance (MLCO and Deputy MLRO). Mel brings the practical, business-focused approach to compliance that underpins excellent client service – the kind that makes sound compliance practice feel like a support system rather than an obstacle course.
Michael Taylor and Stephanie Wilcox step up to Managing Associate. Michael’s been running high-value, complex residential property transactions in London for over seven years – the kind involving offshore SPVs, multiple lenders, and buy-to-let portfolios of 300+ properties. Steph qualified in 2015 and has been advising on a variety of employment matters – change programmes, TUPE, HR processes, Tribunal claims – with a practical edge which you only get from actually understanding how businesses work. Her secondment with a major travel company proved that, and she also heads up our Agriculture, Food and Rural Business sector, bringing first-hand insight from farming 450 acres with her husband.
Sam Baxter, Eleni Nicolaou, and Harry Panayiotou are promoted to Senior Associate. Sam qualified into Disputes in 2021 and has already been ranked in three consecutive Legal 500 editions (2024 to 2026); he’s currently ranked as a “Leading Associate”. That reflects the serious work he’s been handling, including £100m tax disputes, eight-figure multi-jurisdiction enforcement actions, High Court conspiracy claims, urgent injunctions, and high-profile data privacy claims regularly reported in national press. Eleni qualified in 2022 and works on complex, high-value High Court and arbitration matters, from £60m partnership disputes to professional negligence claims against administrators. Bilingual in English and Greek, she’s also expanded our international network. Harry qualified in 2019 and specialises in property disputes – commercial and residential lease disputes, possession claims, service charge arguments, forfeiture, dilapidations. He acts for everyone from multinational corporates to individual homeowners, and brings a calm, objective-focused approach that gets results.
Lois Watts is promoted to Paralegal, joining our legal team and bringing dedicated support to client matters across the firm.
Our Brand & Campaigns team sees three well-deserved promotions. Aliza Ahmed moves to Digital & Design Executive, Olivia Allison to Events Coordinator, and Kirstie Goulder to Business Development Manager. If you’ve seen our campaigns, attended our events, or noticed how we show up differently to other law firms, you’ve seen their work. They’re the reason Greenwoods doesn’t sound or look like an identikit law firm.
And in business support, Mel White is promoted to Total Reward Manager and Angela Kusznir to Executive Assistant to CEO and COO. Law firms run on the quality of their business support – these promotions recognise people who make everything else possible.
Our CEO, Rob Dillarstone, says: “These thirteen people represent what we’re building here – brilliant at what they do, committed to clients, and exactly the kind of colleagues who make Greenwoods what it is. Huge congratulations to every single one of you.”
